I can’t believe that it is already June. I’ve been dreaming of warm weather and summertime for 9 months and suddenly we’re in the middle of it!
Every year I kick off the beginning of summer by traveling to Chicago for Anime Central, or ACEN. My first time attending was in-fact my very first convention ever attended, back in 2006!!
I decided that I wanted to finally build a costume that I’ve had on my list for many years, Queen Beryl! With the help of @JCSCostumeDesign we created a custom jewelry set with large stones, solder, and a blow torch…heheh!
This year was another fantastic year to meet up with friends, make new ones, and see hundreds, if not thousands, of amazing costumes! I judge the masquerade with Mogchelle and this year we were joined by HDC Cosplay. They are both fantastic people and it was a pleasure to hang out with them all day while meeting with all the contestants.
The contest is pretty straight forward. We are summoned around Noon to start seeing scheduled Groups and Master class entries. We finish up with those around 3:30, just in time for a short break which we use to scarf food…this year I had a KFC bowl and it was everything I didn’t even know I needed. We return to our table around 4:30 to begin judging all other entries who are lined up in an adjacent room. We tend to take photos and make notes while simultaneously investigating the costumes brought to us. We love seeing all the detail and hard work cosplayers have put into their works of art!
Making our final decisions was extremely difficult this year as everyone brought amazingly detailed costumes to us. We only had a finite amount of time to decide and an infinite reasons to choose everyone! I am so proud of all who entered the Masquerade and look forward to seeing even more of you next year!

I can’t wait to see each and every one of you at GenCon this year!

This Halloween season has been so full and busy which I have found to be very exciting!
Kicked off the weekend with a performance at Joe’s Halloween party with fellow entertainers Bendovah Plenti and Anastasia Beaverhausen. Bendovah and I opened the show with our Hocus Pocus number, after which we all did one solo performance, followed by a sing-along to Time Warp!
Opening act, we were down one sister (she went to dust early)
I had so much fun debuting my 1940’s style Silent Hill Nurse with the mask by Brian ‘Daguru’ Beech. Working on this dress was SUPER FUN. Using Butterick Pattern 6018 in a size 16 I made minimal adjustments which made the dress pretty form fitting. I used cotton muslin to create the dress and splattered it with Rit Dye in Crimson and Chocolate (Brown). I love that my neighbors just accept the fact that sometimes I splatter fake blood on costumes in my front lawn.
Here is a montage from my number as a Silent Hill Nurse!
On Saturday I transformed into the Hostess for Cardinal Stage Company’s presentation of the Rocky Horror Picture show at the Buskirk-Chumley Theatre. There were two showings of the movie, one at 8PM and one at Midnight, and both were sold-out with 5-600 people in the theatre.
This was the first time that I had hosted such a large event and to say, “I was nervous” was a slight understatement! Once I walked out on stage I shook all the fears away and just had fun, which was made even more enjoyable with the amazing audiences I had!
We had a “Devirginization” costume contest where we played all sorts of fun games on stage. Games like, eat popcorn off a strangers body, sexy words (like scrotum), “Whose Your Daddy?”, and peel the banana with only your mouth!
Banana game excerpt!
All the contests were amazing and I had fun with each and every one of them!
I am so very grateful for all the opportunities that I received this week and I am looking forward to a VERY busy month! I’ll keep you all update! Happy Halloween!

A couple weeks ago I took a break from my four month contract in New York to fly home and participate in the Disney Inspired Drag Show at my home bar in Bloomington, IN, The Back Door.
It was so much fun! I had been working on costumes prior to hopping on the plane but when I landed I had to jump right into learning choreography for the opening number: Hocus Pocus!
I always love creating art with my friends and I can’t wait to be home in 3 more days so we can push forward and get more projects done!
